Hello Sweetie BBQ Review (Georgetown, TX)

Hello Sweetie's  Website (inactive) & Facebook & Yelp page

(And now back to some BBQ reviewin')
Hello Sweetie is a very small BBQ place located in South Georgetown. It does a combination of BBQ and desserts. There’s a small pit out back. I was asked to not take pictures.

It appears their normal offerings are brisket, sausage (regular and jalapeno), and pulled pork, and then specials (ribs on Fri, chicken on Wed). I get pulled pork, brisket, and sausage.
One thing I notice that’s a little concerning: all three of my meats are being re-heated in a microwave.

Sausage: The sausage has a decent flavor and despite the reheating is still fairly moist. There’s not  lot of crispness in the casing (which is something that can be lost by reheating). 5.0/10.

Brisket: It is disappointing. You can see from the picture there’s not really much smoke ring. That’s because there’s not really much smoke flavor, and the rub didn’t penetrate well. My wife tried a bite and said “roast beef". That’s a fair assessment. It’s also a little dry from reheating. 3.0/10

Pulled Pork: The pork comes already sauced. Despite that it’s actually pretty good. There are undertones of smoke, and the sauce blends well with the pork. This is far and away the best of the three and would make a good sandwich. 6.5/10.

Hello Sweetie has some potential. I’ve had worse at places with a better (or at least more high profile) reputation. Both the sausage and pulled pork were decent. I would strongly encourage them to find a way to keep their meat warm as opposed to reheating.

Is it worth a visit? I’d stay away from the brisket for the time being, but it’s worth going to if you are in the mood for a pulled pork sandwich.

Is it worth a trip? Nope. If you’re traveling 60+ minutes just for BBQ, there are better destinations.
